Monte Pana: A Course with Character

“I was impressed when I first tested the Monte Pana course” says 4x10km relay Turin olympic gold medalist Pietro

Piller-Cottrer. “This is where the Italian Cup was hosted in March 2011. The run is highly technical and contains

everything a dedicated racers would like to see. Furthermore, I was impressed by the beautiful scenic panorama of the

Dolomites.”

Indeed, the course at Monte Pana was built as a a high-calibre, well-thought-out and challenging cross-country run

network which perfectly lents itself to host international, domestic and regional competitions. The FIS-OPA Continental

Cup scheduled for December 2011 is the run’s current highlight.

Pietro Piller-Cottrer gets carried away when describing the run for the FIS-OPA Continental Cup: “It is winding, with

several great climbs where one can let off steam. Next you plunge yourself into the descents, to briefly catch your

breadth, before heading up the next hill. And so it goes on and on all the way to the finish area where you can prepare for

the final sprint.”

Alfred Runggaldier, FIS-OPA Continental Cup race director explains: “We have alternated climbs and descents with a few

flat sections in between.” and Romed Moroder, PE instructor and course director, adds: “This way racers can reach

higher speeds as they will be able to recover constantly which will, in turn, contribute to a more spectacular race

dynamic”. Sounds like suspense is practically built-in to the course.

It is thus no surprise that Italian national team member David Hofer completed the 15km mass start Italian Cup race on

the Monte Pana race in an unbelievable 33 minutes and 18 seconds with a average speed of 27.027 km/h.

The course is very challenging despite high speed and impressive times. It is not easily interpreted by racers. Those

starting too eagerly often get stuck early but those taking their time in the first three minutes of the race and

intelligently allocate their energy across the entire race can score a great time and also have fun at the same time.

Continental Cup on Monte Pana. And spectators will be enjoying the beauty of a true cross-country racing spectacle. Key

sections are easily reached from the start/finish area and provide perfect vantage points to enjoy the impressive

Monte Pana: Una pista con carattere - Atleti e spettatori entusiasti

„La prima volta che ho provato il tracciato di Monte Pana sono rimasto sorpreso“ dice il campione olimpico in staffetta di Torino 2006 Pietro Piller-Cottrer. “Ciò è avvenuto in occasione della Coppa Italia lo scorso marzo (2011), quando ho vissuto l’esperienza di una pista molto tecnica, completa sotto tutti i punti di vista, nella quale non manca niente da un punto di vista agonistico. Inoltre mi ha colpito il panorama spettacolare nelle Dolomiti gardenesi.“

Di fatto l’obiettivo posto dai progettisti della pista era quello di realizzare una rete di tracciati di alto livello e sufficientemente impegnativi, con lo scopo di ospitare competizioni prestigiose a livello internazionale, nazionale e regionale. Con l'imminente tappa del circuito FIS Opa Continental Cup, le piste di Monte Pana vivranno il loro momento più alto a partire dalla loro realizzazione.

Pietro Piller-Cottrer si lascia trasportare dalla passione quando parla della pista di Monte Pana: „È una pista tortuosa con tante belle salite dove potersi sfogare, per poi tirare il fiato e iniziare le discese, lanciandosi verso il traguardo a ranghi ristretti per affrontare la volata” Alfred Runggaldier, direttore di gara della FIS-OPA Continental Cup, spiega: „Tra le salite impegnative e le fulminee discese abbiamo sempre inserito dei piani.“ Romed Moroder, direttore di pista, aggiunge: “In questo modo gli atleti raggiungono un‘alta velocitá e possono rapidamente rigenerarsi, elemento che contribuisce ad una dinamica di gara spettacolare.“ Insomma, senza dubbio si assisterà ad una gara appassionante!

Non é un caso se David Hofer, membro della Nazionale Italiana, in occasione della Coppa Italia dello scorso marzo ha registrato un tempo di 33 minuti e 18 secondi nella gara dei 15 km con partenza in massa, chiudendo la propria fatica con una velocitá media di 27,027 km/h!.

Nonostante la velocitá e i tempi fantastici, la pista é molto impegnativa. Non sempre é facile per gli atleti riuscire ad interpretarla nel modo giusto. Chi parte con troppa grinta rischia di avere problemi, chi invece tiene un approccio più ponderato nei primi giri e amministra con equilibrio le varie fasi della gara, può raggiungere ottimi tempi finali e pure divertirsi.

„La pista entusiasma sia atleti che pubblico“, dice Pietro Piller-Cottrer. Per gli atleti della FIS-OPA Continental Cup si tratta dunque di una bella occasione. Per gli spettatori, parimenti, é garantito un vero spettacolo dello sci nordico. Dallo stadio di partenza-arrivo si possono scegliere diversi punti chiave, facilmente raggiungibili a piedi, per godersi appieno le prestazioni degli atleti.

THE HERO NOMINATED FOR FICTS AWARD

The promotional video of the Südtirol Sellaronda HERO 2011 is one of the nominations for “Sport Movies & Tv 2011”, a Milan cinemagraphic event promoted by the Federazione Internazionale della Televisione e del Cinema Sportivi. The winner will be announced during the Awards Ceremony on the Wednesday evening of 2nd November.

The Dolomites continues to make news and our extraordinary adventure goes on and on. In fact the promotional video of the event has been nominated in the competition “Sport Movies & Tv 2011” at the 29th Milano International FICTS Festival.

The promotional spot for Südtirol Sellaronda HERO 2011 is in the running to win the Festival’s top prize, the Festival being organised and promoted by the Federazione Internazionale della Televisione e del Cinema Sportivi, an organisation recognised by the International Olympic Committee and which every year assigns the Oscars of this specific category dedicated to sport. In the 3 minute video a biker, played by the ex Italian national downhill skier Peter Runggaldier, sets out on his mountain bike riding across the breathtaking scenery of The Dolomites. The Südtirol Sellaronda HERO is of course part of the Festival’s event calendar and the video will be shown on Sunday 30th October at 5.00 pm at the Sala Colonne of Palazzo Giureconsulti, just a short walk away from Madonnina.

The video was produced by Emmedue Videoproduction of Trento, and directed by Tomas Mendini, with assistance and supervision by Giuliano Torghele. ”To be nominated is a great honour and represents further confirmation of the quality of work done and gives us the incentive to go on and do even better things in the near future” These the words of Gerhard Vanzi, who along with Peter Runggaldier organises the HERO.

And so we wait for the final verdict and the declaration “The winner is…” will be made at The Prizegiving Ceremony in programme for 6.00 pm on Wednesday 2nd November at Palazzo Marino, in Piazza Scala 2, opposite Teatro alla Scala.

SELLARONDA HERO BEIM FICTS-FESTIVAL NOMINIERT

Das Promo-Video des Südtirol Sellaronda HERO 2011 gehört zu den besonders
aussichtsreichen Kandidaten beim „Sport Movies & TV 2011“, dem Mailänder Film-Festival, das vom Internationalen Verband des Sport-TV und –Kinos FICTS gefördert wird. Der Gewinner wird bei der Abendveranstaltung am 2. November 2011 bekanntgegeben.

Wolkenstein (BZ), Oktober.2011 – Noch ist die zweie Auflage des MTB-Marathons Südtirol Sellaronda HERO, bei dem sich am 2. Juli 2011 über 1.500 Biker rund um den Sella-Massiv im Herzen der Dolomiten gemessen haben, nicht wirklich vorbei. Denn das allerletzte Kapitel dieses außergewöhnlichen Rennens wird erst in diesen Tagen geschrieben – mit der Nominierung des Promo-Videos des Rennens beim Wettbewerb um den „Sport Movies & TV 2011“-Preis des 29. Mailänder International FICTS Festival. Der Promo-Spot des Südtirol Sellaronda HERO 2011 gehört zum engen Kreis der möglichen Gewinner dieses Festivals, das vom Internationalen Verband des Sport-TV und –Kinos organisiert und gefördert wird.

Dieser Verband ist vom Internationalen Olympischen Komitee (IOC) anerkannt und verleiht jedes Jahr die „Oscars“ an die besten Sport-Produktionen aus Kino und Fernsehen.

Im dreiminütigen Video sieht man einen Biker, dargestellt von Peter Runggaldier, Ex- Mitglied der italienischen Nationalmannschaft der Skiabfahrtsläufer, auf dem Sattel seines Bikes und umrahmt vom atemberaubenden Dolomiten-Panorama. Der Südtirol Sellaronda Hero steht auch auf dem Werbeplakat des Filmfestivals; der Film wird am Sonntag, dem 30. Oktober 2011, in der Sala Colonne des Palazzo Giureconsulti gezeigt, nur wenige Schritte vom Mailänder Dom entfernt.

Produziert wurde das Video von der Emmedue Videoproduction in Trient, unter der Regie von Tomas Mendini und der Supervision von Giuliano Torghele. „Ich bin über die Nominierung besonders erfreut“, kommentiert Gerhard Vanzi, zusammen mit Peter Runggaldier Organisator des HERO. „Für uns ist sie eine weitere Bestätigung der Qualität unserer Arbeit und sie treibt uns dazu an, in der nächsten Zukunft noch mehr zu geben.“

Der berühmte Satz „And the winner is...“ wird während der Preisverleihungs-Zeremonie am Mittwoch, dem 2. November 2011, um 18 Uhr im Palazzo Marino erklingen (Piazza Scala 2, gleich gegenüber dem Theater der Scala).

Selva Val Gardena (BZ), Ottobre,.2011 - Non è ancora andata in archivio la seconda edizione della Südtirol Sellaronda HERO che lo scorso 2 luglio ha portato oltre 1.500 biker a sfidarsi sui tracciati intorno al Gruppo del Sella, nel cuore delle Dolomiti. Infatti si sta scrivendo in queste l’ultimo capitolo di questa straordinaria avventura organizzativa, con la nomination del video promo della manifestazione in concorso a “ Sport Movies & Tv 2011” del 29esimo  Milano International FICTS Festival .

Lo spot promozionale della  Südtirol Sellaronda HERO 2011  è nella rosa dei possibili vincitori del festival organizzato e promosso dalla  Federazione Internazionale della Televisione e del Cinema Sportivi , ente riconosciuto dal Comitato Olimpico Internazionale e che assegna ogni anno gli oscar delle opere dedicate al mondo dello sport. Nel video, della durata di 3 minuti, un biker interpretato dall’ex azzurro di discesa libera  Peter Runggaldier , compie una corsa a cavallo della propria mountain bike avvolto dal palcoscenico mozzafiato delle Dolomiti. La Südtirol Sellaronda HERO è all’interno del cartellone della rassegna cinematografica e l’opera verrà proiettata domenica  30 Ottobre alle 17.00 presso la Sala Colonne di Palazzo Giureconsulti, a due passi dalla Modannina.

Il video è stato prodotto dalla società  Emmedue Videoproduction di Trento, con la regia di  Tomas Mendini e la supervisione di Giuliano Torghele. «

Das Top Ereignis des Herbstes. Das internationale Tennisturnier "Sparkasse ATP Challenger Val Gardena Südtirol" in Gröden mit einem Preisgeld von 64.000 €+H.

Zweite Auflage des ATP-Challenger-Turniers in Gröden von 5. bis 13. November
Nach der erfolgreichen Premiere 2010 freuen sich St. Ulrich und Gröden schon auf die zweite Auflage des ATP-Challenger-Turniers, das in der zweiten November-Woche (von 5. bis 13. November) stattfindet und wie im Vorjahr mit einem Preisgeld von 64.000 Euro plus H dotiert ist. Das Organisationskomitee unter der Führung von Wolfgang Wanker, der auch Turnierdirektor ist, arbeitet seit Wochen daran, dass auch die 2. Auflage des Spakassen ATP-Challengers Val Gardena Südtirol ein Erfolg wird. Un appuntamento assolutamente da non perdere. Il torneo "Sparkasse ATP Challenger Val Gardena Südtirol" dotato di un montepremi di 64.000 €+H!

Seconda edizione del Sparkasse ATP Challenger di Ortisei dal 5 al 13 novembre
Dopo il felice debutto nel 2010 la Val Gardena e Ortisei aspettano con gioia la seconda edizione del challenger ATP, che si svolge nella seconda settimana di novembre (da sabato 5 a domenica 13) e sarà dotato di un montepremi di 64.000 euro + H. Il comitato organizzatore sotto la presidenza di Wolfgang Wanker, anche direttore del torneo tennistico più importante in Alto Adige, da settimane è al lavoro per garantire come sempre una manifestazione di alto livello. E uno sguardo all’entry list del torneo fa capire che il pubblico potrà aspettarsi un’altra volta una settimana di grande tennis in Val Gardena.

La gastronomia della Val Gardena presentata a “Cooking for Art”, dal 22 al 24 ottobre, a Roma

L’importante evento gastronomico, organizzato da Witaly e presentato da Luigi Cremona, si è svolto quest’anno presso lo splendido Palazzo delle Esposizioni a Roma.

Val Gardena, ottobre 2011 – L’ evento Cooking for Art, si è svolto dal 22 al 24 ottobre 2011, all’Open Colonna, presso il Palazzo delle Esposizioni di Roma, e la Val Gardena era ben rappresentata da alcuni dei suoi migliori chef.

Felice Lo Basso, chef del rinomato Ristorante Gourmet Alpenroyal di Selva Gardena e Reinhold Unterfrauner, chef del Ristorante Gourmet Hotel Genziana di Ortisei, si sono sfidati (per la Val Gardena) nelle due giornate di show cooking animate e condotte da Luigi Cremona, giornalista e scrittore di guide eno-gastronomiche, scopritore di talenti e collaboratore della trasmissione televisiva ”La prova del cuoco”, in onda su RAI1.

Cremona, oltre a numerose attività editoriali, collabora da anni all’organizzazione di show culinari ed eventi gastronomici d’alto livello, come EuroChocolate e Merano International Wine Festival & Culinaria.

 Tornando a Cooking for Art, per la degustazione dei prodotti locali, la Val Gardena ha proposto, nel salotto dedicato, deliziose marmellate preparate dalle mani esperte di Daniela Comploj, proprietaria della tea room Villa Frainela (www.villafrainela.it) a Selva, dolci e pane tradizionale del panificio Costa Willy di Selva, speck e prodotti affumicati della Ditta Pramstrahler di Fiè (www.pramstrahler.eu), succose mele e gustosi succhi del Consorzio Mele Val Venosta (www.vip.coop).

“A Roma la Val Gardena è molto conosciuta ed è meta ambita per le vacanze, sia in inverno che in estate. Bisogna, però, anche ricordare che questa terra offre ai propri ospiti, oltre a panorami meravigliosi e paesini stupendi, anche una gastronomia d’altissimo livello, che sposa l’antica cultura ladina ai gusti di oggi” – queste le parole di Luigi Cremona, durante l’incontro con il Direttore di Val Gardena Marketing, Dott. Günther Pitscheider.

In effetti, in Val Gardena ci sono diversi chef emergenti, degni di essere presentati al grande pubblico dei buongustai e quale migliore occasione delle giornate dedicate alla gastronomia di montagna dell’ Open Colonna di Roma.

Non sono mancate, inoltre, come testimonianza di 400 anni di cultura e artigianato, le famose sculture della Val Gardena, rappresentate dal marchio GardenaArt (www.gardena-art.com).

Inoltre, nella giornata di lunedì, si è svolta la presentazione ufficiale della prima guida Touring “Alberghi e Ristoranti” e la finalissima del premio Miglior Chef Emergente d’Italia 2011.

In questo week-end dove protagonista è stata la montagna, con i suoi sapori, immagini e tradizioni, erano presenti a Roma, oltre alla Val Gardena, località celebri come Madonna di Campiglio, Cortina, Livigno, Madesimo, Val di Fiemme, Vallagarina e Isera, e il Comune di Teramo, per l’Abruzzo.

Rom präsentierte Grödner Kochkust bei „Cooking for Art“

Hohe Grödner Kochkunst wurde bei „Cooking for Art“ vom 22. bis 24. Oktober in Rom präsentiert: Die Gastro-Veranstaltung fand in diesem Jahr in der herrlichen Atmosphäre des „Palazzo delle Esposizioni“ in Rom statt. Hier standen an beiden Veranstaltungstagen Schaukochen und traditionelle Verkostungen im „Open Colonna“, dem Gourmet-Restaurant im Inneren des Museums, auf dem Programm

Vom 22. bis 24. Oktober wurde in Rom bei der Gastro-Veranstaltung „Cooking for Art“ Grödner Traditionskochkunst im “Open-Colonna”, dem bekannten Gourmet-Restaurant im Inneren des „Palazzo delle Esposizioni“ präsentiert. Auf dem Programm standen: Schaukochen, Traditions- Verkostungen, die Vorstellung des ersten Führers "Hotels und Restaurants" des italienischen Touring Clubs sowie die Prämierung zu Italiens besten Jungkochs 2011, der Italien am "Gipfel der italienischen Küche in der Welt", vom 3. bis zum 6. November 2011 in Hong Kong vertreten darf. Die von Event-Organisation „Witaly“ gestaltete Veranstaltung widmete sich ganz den Speisen und Produkten der italienischen Bergregionen. So waren an beiden Veranstaltungstagen außer Gröden auch die Regionen um Madonna di Campiglio, Cortina, Livigno, Madesimo, Val di Fiemme, Vallagarina und Isera sowie die Stadt Teramo in den Abruzzen vor Ort vertreten.

Präsentiert wurde die Veranstaltung von keinem Geringeren als Luigi Cremona, der als Journalist und Autor an mehreren Gastronomie- und Wein Führern mitgearbeitet hat, als Entdecker neuer Koch-Talente gilt und bei der täglichen RAI 1 Sendung "La prova del cuoco" mitwirkt.  Mit „Cooking for Art“ in Rom betreut er neben Eurochocolate und dem Internationale Wine Festival & Culinaria in Meran eine weitere Gastronomische Highlight-Veranstaltung.

Schaukochen mit ladinischer Kochkultur

Gröden hatte bei der Veranstaltung in Rom eine gewisse Sonderstellung, denn "Gröden ist für viele Römer das ganze Jahr über ein begehrtes Urlaubsziel. Und das nicht nur, weil das Tal seinen Gästen eine tolle Landschaft und romantische Bergdörfer bietet. Auch das vielseitige gastronomische Angebot bei dem die alte ladinische Kochkultur mit den Geschmäckern der Neuzeit verbunden wird, überzeugt ", so Luigi Cremona.  Und in der Tat, gibt es in Gröden viele aufstrebende Spitzenköche die bei den Tagen der Berggastronomie im „Open Colonna“ ihr Können beim Schaukochen der Öffentlichkeit präsentierten. So traten für Gröden die renommierten Küchenchefs Felice Lo Basso vom Gourmet Restaurant Alpenroyal in Wolkenstein und Reinhold Unterfrauner, Küchenchef des Gourmet Restaurant Hotel Genziana in St. Ulrich in jeweils 45 Minuten Schaukochen an.

Traditions-Verkostung in der Gröden Lounge

Die Verkostung von lokalen Produkten in einer eigens eingerichteten Lounge war ein weiteres Highlight der gastronomischen Veranstaltung. Hier gab es in der „Gröden-Lounge“ köstlich hausgemachte Marmeladen und Säfte von Daniela Comploj, der Eigentümerin der Teestube "Villa Frainela" in Wolkenstein (www.villafrainela.it). Die Bäckerei "Costa Willy“ in Wolkenstein stellte traditionelle Mehlspeisen und Brot vor, traditionell hergestellter Speck und geräucherte Produkte kamen von der Völser Firma "Pramstrahler" (www.pramstrahler.eu). Für Vitamine sorgen saftige und schmackhafte Äpfel sowie Apfelsaft aus dem Vinschgauer  Äpfel Consortium (www.vip.coop). Auch Grödner Kulturgut gab es hier zu bewundern, denn als ein Zeugnis der 400 Jahre alten Holzschnitzer- Tradition in Gröden, wurden Skulpturen der Marke GardenaArt ausgestellt (www.gardena-art.com).

UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE PERFECT SETTING

The race organisation is under way! The date is fixed for Saturday 23rdJune. The route will take competitors on a fascinating route across the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The maximum number of participants will be 2012, so allowing a charitable draw to be organised around the last race  place. Race registration will be open from  Tuesday 25^th October  2011 and applications can be made on-line. Yes, the third edition of the HERO, as it is now commonly known in race circles, is well and truly upon us!

Selva Val Gardena (BZ), october,  2011 –  A star was born in 2010 and in July 2011 it really began to shine bright.  After two editions of the event we can confidently say that the HERO has taken its place as one of the most important competitions in the mountain bike race calendar. Certainly it is regarded as an extreme and gruelling event but also as a fascinating and appealing one, this due to the unrivalled beauty of the Dolomite landscape, UNESCO World Heritage Site, in which the event takes place. The route the HERO takes is real special, both for the magnificence of the setting and the immersion in nature into which the athletes plunge themselves. And just for a moment to reflect back on the second edition of the Südtirol Sellaronda HERO, we cannot forget the success enjoyed in terms of numbers and quality of the riders taking part. Proof of such affirmation is in the fact that registration closed a month before the event on reaching 1,500 registrations, these coming from 28 counties across 5 continents. Amongst the elite athlete group featured  Mirko Celestino, number 1 in the world rankings for the  “marathon” distance, who duly honoured the event by coming home in first place.

So now, full of enthusiasm from past memories we look forward to the next race day on Saturday 23rd June 2012.  The Organising Committee has set as a target 2.000 race registrations. In fact a few more besides, for the actual number is 2012, this number coinciding with the year of running so as to allow a charitable draw to be organised around the last place.  The organising committee, led by Gerhard Vanzi and Peter Runggaldier, have determined that the ‘last and final place’ will be auctioned and that the sum collected will be donated to Assisport Alto Adige, the South Tyrol association which supports young sporting talent.  Two local champions “made in Suedtirol”, Gerhard Kerschbaumer (already World Junior champion) and Julia Innerhofer, (Italian national mountain bike team member and winner of the bronze medal in the recent World championships in Chàmpery, France) are lending their name and support to the initiative.

As for the quality of the field confidence is high that the cream of the crop will turn out in plenty on the 23rd June, this thanks to the trust that the international federation is showing in the race. The Südtirol Sellaronda HERO is now part of the UCI calendar and this will no doubt raise the international profile of the event and represents a further pass towards making the HERO something of real prestige.  And on the back of the response to the second edition the Organisers have decided to try and attract more than 2000 to the start line, and to ensure that there are representatives from at least 30 countries in 5 continents.
The HERO is aiming high. Proud in the knowledge that it has several successful ingredients. One ingredient is without doubt the unrivalled beauty of the route across the Dolomites, UNESCO World Heritage site, a demanding route indeed but perhaps one which offers some solace to riders. The inspirational nature of the landscape is difficult to tell in words, but the proof for all to see will again be clear for all to see in the new video-spot being prepared for the 2012 registration launch and which is available on the Organisers site at  www.sellarondahero.com.

The total prize money for the Südtirol Sellaronda HERO is intended not only to benefit elite riders but also to recognise the efforts of the  “hobby” category. This next year’s prize money will total 45.000 euro – another HERO record!. For other aspects of race organisation one can apply the motto “Never change a winning team” in that the race routes will remain the same – the longer one being  82 kilometres with 4.200 metres in altitude difference and the shorter one 50 kilometres with 2,600 metres in altitude difference, both with start and finish in the heart of Selva Val Gardena (1.563 metres a.s.l.)

Don’t forget to look out for the side support events such as the HERO KIDS, an important preparation for the champions of tomorrow, and the Sellaronda Bike Day on Sunday 24th June  when thousands of cyclists will enjoy the Dolomite roads, closed to traffic for the day.

Die nächste Ausgabe der Sellaronda HERO wird am 23. Juni 2012 inmitten des UNESCO Weltnaturerbes Dolomiten stattfinden. Die Organisation hat beschlossen, maximal 2012 Teilnehmer zuzulassen, dabei soll die letzte Startnummer 2012 ersteigert werden. Ab dem 25. Oktober 2011 können auf der Webseite der Veranstaltung  die Einschreibungen für den HERO 2012 vorgenommen werden.

Wolkenstein in Gröden (BZ), Oktober, 2011 – Unter einem guten Stern geboren, erbrachte der MTB Marathon HERO seit ihrer ersten Ausgabe 2010 mit jedem Jahr einen größeren Erfolg. Mit der brillanten Ausgabe im vergangenen Juli konnte sich der HERO im internationalen Szenario der wichtigsten Mountain Bike Rennen eindeutig positionieren. Der Marathon ist mittlerweile für seinen Schwierigkeitsgrad bekannt, aber ebenso für die bezaubernde Dolomitenlandschaft, welche heute zum UNESCO Weltnaturerbe gehört, und den Athleten ein einmaliges Panorama bietet. Ein weiteres Augenmerk bei der zweiten Ausgabe der Südtirol Sellaronda HERO fällt auch auf die Qualität und Quantität der Teilnehmer: 1.500 Athleten aus 28 Nationen waren am Start und bereits ein Monat vor Einschreibeschluss war das Zulassungslimit erreicht. Zudem war unter den Spitzenathleten auch Mirco Celestino, die aktuelle Nummer Eins auf der UCI Weltrangliste der Marathonkategorie. Dieser beehrte das HERO Rennen nicht nur mit seiner Teilnahme sondern gewann es auch. 

Dank der positiven Erfahrung bei den vergangenen Ausgaben blickt man mit großem Enthusiasmus auch in die Zukunft. Das Datum der nächsten Ausgabe ist Samstag, 23. Juni 2012 und diesmal sollen 2012 angenommen werden, dieselbe Zahl wie jene des Veranstaltungsjahres, in dem rund um die Startnummer 2012 eine Benefizaktion gestartet wird. In diesem Sinne möchte das Organisationskommittee unter der Führung von Gerhard Vanzi und Peter Runggaldier, die letzte Startnummer zugunsten der Südtiroler Sporthilfe versteigern, welche stark an der Förderung der jungen Sporttalente beteiligt ist.  Als Werbeträger der Iniziative wirken zwei Champions “made in Südtirol” mit: zum einen Gerhard Kerschbaumer, der bereits Junioren Weltmeister war, und zum anderen Julia Innerhofer, italienische Nationalläuferin in Mountainbike und Drittplatzierte bei der Weltmeisterschaft in Chámpery (Frankreich).

Die Erwartungen hinsichtlich der athletischen Leistungen der Teilnehmer sind auch für den nächsten Wettkampf am 23. Juni hoch. Zudem ist der Südtirol Sellaronda HERO im internationalen Rennkalenders  UCI aufgenommen worden, was der Veranstaltung ein noch internationaleres Gesicht geben wird und ihr zusätzliche Bedeutung und Prestige verleiht.  Ziel ist, am Start die Nationalfahnen von mindestens 30 Nationen aus fünf Kontinenten zu haben und somit jene vom Vorjahr zu übertrumpfen.

Diesem Internationalisierungsprozess der HERO liegt ein Mix aus mehreren Erfolgszutaten zugrunde.  Dazu gehört vor allem die prachtvolle Landschaft der Dolomiten, die Teil des UNESCO Weltnaturerbes ist. Alle Rennstrecken bieten den Bikern einen traumhaften Blick auf die Naturlandschaft der Dolomiten. Was man mit Worten kaum zu beschreiben vermag soll das Video HERO 2012 für uns erzählen, welches eigens für den Beginn der Ausschreibungen 2012 realisiert wurde und die Traumlandschaft in den Mittelpunkt stellt. Die Gewinnpreise der Südtirol Sellaronda HERO gehen nicht nur an die Elitesportler, sondern auch an die Biker der Hobbykategorien. Mit einem Gesamtpreisgeld von 45.000 Euro schlägt der HERO auch hier einen neuen Rekord.

Ansonsten bleibt es bei der altbewährten Strecke. Wie im vergangenen Jahr gibt es zwei Streckenverläufe. Die eine über 82 Kilometer mit 4.200 Höhenmeter, die andere über 50 Kilometer mit 2.600 Höhenmeter. Start und Ziel ist in Wolkenstein in Gröden auf 1.563 Metern Meereshöhe. 

Nicht zu verpassen ist auch das Rahmenprogramm mit dem HERO KIDS für die Athleten von morgen und dem Sellaronda Bike Day am Sonntag, 24. Juni auf den vier für den Verkehr gesperrten Dolomitenpässen.

L’organizzazione della gara, in programma sabato 23 giugno 2012 sui sentieri delle Dolomiti, Patrimonio dell’Umanità UNESCO, ha fissato a 2012 il tetto massimo di partecipanti, e l’ultimo pettorale lo si conquista all’asta. A partire da martedì 25 ottobre 2011 aperte le iscrizioni sul sito web della terza edizione della HERO (ormai tutti nell’ambiente la chiamano così!).

Selva Val Gardena (BZ), ottobre 2011 – Nel 2010 dissero che era nata una stella, e lo scorso luglio l’abbiamo vista splendere.  Dopo due edizioni si può affermare che la HERO ha l’ambizione di entrare nel firmamento delle più importanti competizioni di mountain bike con gli appellativi di essere gara estrema e massacrante, non c’è dubbio, ma anche affascinante e attraente, grazie al palcoscenico che solo le Dolomiti, dichiarate a ragione Patrimonio dell’UNESCO,  offrono a chi vi partecipa. Uno scenario come quello attraversato dalla HERO si può dire che sia unico, non solo per la intatta bellezza della roccia di dolomia, ma per l'ambiente naturale che circonda il biker ad ogni pedalata. E ripensando alla seconda edizione della Südtirol Sellaronda HERO  non passa inosservato lo strepitoso successo, sia in termini quantitativi che per qualità  degli atleti  iscritti. Su tutti bastino due segnalazioni: oltre 1.500 partenti, ovvero il “tutto esaurito” ad un mese dalla chiusura delle iscrizioni, con ben 28 nazioni rappresentate (!) e tra gli atleti elite anche Mirco Celestino, il numero 1 del ranking mondiale della distanza “marathon”, che ha onorato la HERO a modo suo, vincendola.

E così, sull’onda di questo entusiasmo si guarda alla prossima edizione, e soprattutto alla data in calendario: sabato 23 giugno 2012, questo il giorno dell’appuntamento. L’obiettivo della organizzazione è di abbattere il muro dei 2.000 partenti. Anzi, di più: le iscrizioni verranno chiuse al raggiungimento di 2012 adesioni,  esattamente come l’anno in cui si disputerà, per costruire intorno al pettorale 2012 una iniziativa di beneficienza. In tal senso, il comitato organizzatore, guidato da Gerhard Vanzi e Peter Runggaldier, ha previsto che “l’ultimo pettorale” venga messo all’asta e la somma raccolta verrà devoluta ad Assisport Alto Adige, l’associazione altoatesina che sostiene i giovani talenti dello sport. A prestarsi nel ruolo di testimonial dell’iniziativa due campioni “made in Suedtirol”, ovvero Gerhard Kerschbaumer (già campione del mondo Junior) e Julia Innerhofer, azzurra della mountain bike e vincitrice della medaglia di bronzo ai recenti mondiali di Chàmpery in Francia.

Intanto sotto il profilo della qualità sportiva dei partecipanti crescono le aspettative di avere un altro parterre de roi anche il prossimo 23 giugno, grazie alla fiducia che la federazione internazionale ha riposto nella gara. Infatti la Südtirol Sellaronda HERO è entrata nel calendario UCI e questo darà alla manifestazione una vetrina ancor più internazionale, e rappresenta un ulteriore passo per candidare la HERO a qualcosa di veramente prestigioso. E dopo l’esperienza della seconda edizione con ben 28 nazioni rappresentate, l’organizzazione si è posto l’obiettivo di avere al via, oltre a 2012 biker, un numero di bandiere equivalente ad almeno 30 Paesi dei cinque continenti.

Una internazionalizzazione a cui la HERO punta grazie ad una ricetta composta da tanti ingredienti di successo. Uno di questi è certamente la straordinaria bellezza del paesaggio delle Dolomiti, riconosciuta dall’UNESCO Patrimonio Naturale dell’Umanità, che si può ammirare sui tracciati di gara e che sicuramente compensa le fatiche della competizione. Tutta la bellezza dei paesaggi, difficile da raccontare a parole, sarà anche indiscussa protagonista del nuovo videospot che è stato realizzato per il lancio delle iscrizioni 2012 visibile sul sito dell’organizzazione www.sellarondahero.com.

Il montepremi, nel caso della Südtirol Sellaronda HERO non premia solo l’elite, ma vuole dare i giusti riconoscimenti anche ai biker della fascia “hobby”. Per tutti a disposizione un montepremi dal valore complessivo di 45.000 euro che rappresenta un altro record firmato dalla HERO. Per il resto, squadra che vince non si cambia. Riconfermati i tracciati di 82 chilometri con 4.200 metri di dislivello e quello più corto di 50 chilometri con 2.600 metri, con partenza e arrivo nel cuore di Selva Val Gardena a 1.563 metri di quota. Da non perdere gli eventi collaterali come la HERO KIDS riservata ai campioni di domani e il Sellaronda Bike Day di domenica 24 giugno con migliaia di ciclisti lungo i quattro passi chiusi al traffico.
