For the fourth time, exceptional mountaineers are awarded in Selva Val Gardena

The event takes place at the Culture house on the 27.07.2016 – 9 p.m.

The extreme mountaineer Karl Unterkircher died on the 15th July 2008 during an expedition on Nanga Parbat. In honour to keep his name alive in the world of mountaineering, his family and friends have decided to create an award. As biennial eventi t will be granted to mountaineers who have demostrated great climbing skills or carried out extreme expeditions in alpine style during the years 2014 – 2015.

The members of the work group will select 3 mountaineers or teams of mountaineers from all over Europe.

The event is structured in terms of a special prize , so a " fair play " and is not therefore to be regarded as Competition.

Their achievements will be presented during this evening with video recordings and/or slide shows.

An international group of judges will make their final and incontestable decision for the prize winner.

All alpinists receive a plaque made of dolomite and prize money.

The nominations for 2016 are:

·    ► Link Sar West (Karakorum). In July 2015, the British climbers Jon Griffith and Andy Houseman have made the first ascent of Link Sar West, a top of 6.938m in Karakorum, Pakistan. The two climbed the north-west wall along a new path which they called Fever Pitch

·    ► Trollveggen Troll Wall (Norway) 09/02/2015 The Polish climbers Marek Raganowicz and Marcin Tomaszewski have reached the top of Trollveggen ( Troll Wall ) in Norway , after making the first ascent of the North Face of the climbing route Katharsis ( 1100m , A4 / M7)

► Civetta in the Dolomites: In August 2015 it was completed the Way of the students, an important new climbing route on the legendary north-west wall of the Civetta in the Dolomites open from Martin Dejori, Marta Mozzati, Titus Prinoth, Giorgio Travaglia e Alex Walpoth.
