THE HERO IN STARRING ROLE AT THE FILM SPORTS FESTIVAL

The promotional video of the Südtirol Sellaronda HERO has won the Mention d’Honneur award at the “Sport Movies & Tv 2011”, the cinemagraphic event which concluded in Milan, the event having been promoted by the Federazione Internazionale della Televisione e del Cinema Sportivi. On stage at the moment of the prize-giving was Ottavio Missoni, President of the jury, Vittorio Adorni and Giancarlo Abete, the latter carrying the title of “Guirlande d’Honneur”, the highest award to be conferred by FICTS.

Selva Val Gardena (BZ), 04.11.2011 – Mountain biking, and in particular the Südtirol Sellaronda HERO, were the stars of the “Sport Movies & Tv 2011” awards, the cinemagraphic event celebrating its 29th year at the Milano International FICTS Festival. In fact at the gala evening in Milan the promotional spot of the Südtirol Sellaronda HERO 2011 was awarded the crystal Mention d’Honneur in the Sport Adverts category. The award takes on even greater significance when understanding that other nominations included works from Russia, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, and Italy.

Collecting the prize from Francesco Ascani, President of the Federazione Internazionale della Televisione e del Cinema Sportiv were the organisers of the Südtirol Sellaronda HERO, Gerhard Vanzi and Peter Runggaldier. They were accompanied by Tomas Mendini and Giuliano Torghele, director and supervision manager of Emmedue Videoproduction from Trento, they having produced the promotional video.

This was the immediate reaction of Gerhard Vanzi after collecting the Mention d’Honneur. Taking part in the awards ceremony were Ottavio Missoni, President of the FICTS jury and the ex roadracing rider Vittorio Adorni. Other dignatories attending the event were Giancarlo Abete, President of the FIGC, and holder of the title of “Guirlande d’Honneur”, the highest award to be conferred by FICTS.

The promotional video of Südtirol Sellaronda HERO 2011 is a 3 minute coverage showing a biker – played by the ex Italian star of downhill skiing Peter Runggaldier – riding across the breathtaking Dolomites scenery.

The promotional spot has proven to be extremely popular on-line, so much so that what can only be described as a contagious effect amongst mountain biking enthusiasts and has resulted in 58.000 viewings in 8 months (this out of a total of 154.000 visits in the year to the web site dedicated to the race). The excitement and spectacular nature of the video was certainly part of the reason for the success of the second edition of the Südtirol Sellaronda HERO, with 1,500 bikers from 28 countries lining up for the start on 2nd July 2011.
