Südtirol
Gardenissima comes of age: the ski race loved by both occasional weekend skiers
and real professional skiers will celebrate its 18th birthday this spring. 2014
is a year full of surprises and new events: a FIS ski race and a children's
race will join the longest giant slalom for this edition. Fun for everyone!
There's no doubt about it: Südtirol Gardenissima has
come of age. The truth is, it has become a very important race indeed, renowned
even beyond our country's own borders, an unmissable event to circle in your
race calendars.
The 18th edition of this 6 km long race
takes place on Saturday 29 March 2014 on
the Seceda – Col Raiser slope. Just like in previous editions, the race is open
to anyone who is 14 and older, including foreign athletes competing for their
national team and FIS or FISI (Italian Winter Sports Federation) skiers. The
first stretch of the slope (1 km) consists of a giant parallel slalom, which
will then develop into a giant slalom slope. Athletes of each category will
start two at a time.
Südtirol Gardenissima becomes an even greater weekend
event thanks to this year's additions: two new ski races.
Friday 28th March 2014 will see a FIS women slalom take place for the very first time on the
Seceda slope, starting at 9 a.m. Come and cheer them on: these great
athletes will deliver an action-packed treat.
The first Südtirol
Gardenissima Kids kicks off on Sunday 30th March 2014: start from Mount Seceda and finishing at the bottom
station of the Seceda chairlift. A 1,9 km long giant slalom with a 350 m.
elevation gain. Children in the 'Baby', 'Cuccioli' and 'Ragazzi' categories can
take part.
