Activities in case of foul weather- summer 2014

The Val Gardena valley offers a lot of activities  four our guests during the summer 2014.
In case of foul weather we suggests the following actvities:

Val Gardena Active Ortisei

 ► Visit to a farm

Take an exciting guided visit to the farms Resciesa and Uridl: experience life on a farm and look over the shoulder of the farmwomen working! You will have the possibility to feed and stroke cows and calves, to watch how the cows are milked and to taste homemade products.

 ► Cookery course - Specialities of Val Gardena

Would you like to prove yourself as an amateur cook? Participating in our cookery course you can broaden your culinary horizon and collect helpful hints and tricks, which you can apply to your own recipes at home.

 ► Wood carving course - experience the art up close

This course offers guests of all ages interested in arts the possibility to learn the basic knowledge of the wood carving art of Val Gardena under competent supervision.

Val Gardena Active S. Cristina

 ► Museum Gherdëina

The Gherdëina Local Heritage Museum is situated right in the centre of Ortisei and exhibits valuable collections related to the cultural and natural history of the Gardena Valley: fascinating folk art and colourful wooden toys, sculptures and paintings of local artists, an extensive collection of fossils and minerals as well as archaeological finds from the valley and surroundings.

Spend the afternoon in a cosy atmosphere, enjoy creative treats and be inspired by new Val Gardena recipes. Ica is glad to blow her culinary secrets.

 ► Yoga course

Yoga is an ancient philosophical system which originated in India and consists of a series of spiritual and physical exercises. The various “asanas” have a positive influence on our wellbeing and help to harmonize body, spirit and soul. Don’t miss this unique possibility to enjoy yoga lessons in the fresh air of Val Gardena!

 ► Guided chruch tour of Selva

Guided church tour in german and italian language. Explanation about the architecture, especially about the art works in the church. Originally it was a cuple that was build in the year 1503 for Willhelm von Wolkenstein. It started to become a destenation for the pilgrims and it had to be extended. The altar that was build in the year 1960 is still there and has the portrait of the Madonna with child.

 ► Climbing lesson for beginners                       

You will be led by one of our qualified climbing guides who will show you how to climb the "Outdoor Wall" Vallunga. Please come along for your first “vertical” experience! It really is worth it.

 ► Introductory ladin course
An Encounter with the Ladin language and culture
Have you ever wanted to find out more about the Ladin language? Then we have just the thing for you! In cooperation with the Ladin Cultural Institute Micurà de Rü we offer an introductory Ladin course held by a member of staff from Val Gardena. It is, therefore, not only a mere language course but a special opportunity to experience our culture first-hand.

 ► Visit to a wood carving laboratory
The sculptures of artists of Val Gardena can be admired in churches all over the world, and to this day there are many wood carvers plying their trade in the valley. Take the chance to watch the transformation of a simple piece of wood into a work of art, find out which tools are used and how much time and passion is invested into every sculpture.

Exposition of the works of the "Unika" group. Live sculpting presentation in the 500 mq showroom in the  Typak-Center in Via Arnaria 9 ad Ortisei - Roncadizza.
